Genital Herpes Medications
With special genital herpes medications it is possible to supress the genital herpes outbreaks, but it's impossible to cure it completely; cryosurgery is not an option for herpes.
These are: the swab test and the Western Blot test that can also be used to determine if an outbreak of symptoms is due to long-standing or new infection with HSV-1 or HSV-2. There are several tests that help to discover the presence of the virus.

And still the results are not always clear-cut because HSV-1 can cause the virus as well as cold sores and HSV-2 can cause cold sores as well as the virus. This test may be useful in diagnosing the virus in people who have a previous history of oral cold sores. The second test can distinguish between HSV-1 and HSV-2 unlike the swab test.
