Herpes can result in vaginal discharge similar to that caused by HPV, a virus responsible for a genital wart. The infection can be in the organism for years without any symptoms. In most cases, however, it occurs throughout life and is accompanied by eruption on the face or genital areas. Usually, the infection will disappear in a week or so. In complicated cases, the disease can lead to nervous system destruction or brain damage in a newborn.
